Why??
WHY???
Why do the Giants keep losing, and to the Dodgers and the Padres especially? What is wrong with them? Is Des sticking pins into all her voodoo dolls of the Giants team so that they can post scorelines like 0-11 (to the Padres) and 0-9 (to the Dodgers today)??? (But thankfully I don't have to eat dust pans!)
ZERO runs?!? What the hell is going wrong?! I must be caught in some parallel universe, one where the Giants keep losing (come on guys, a 7-12 record is fucking pathetic, even this early in the season). Even Detroit and Milwaukee have a better record than the Giants!!
Further proof of a parallel universe:
1) Boston just swept New York AT HOME. New York is 8-11.
2) Seattle is 6-13.
3) The Triumvarate of EVIL ie Boston, Chicago AND LA are all at 12-6. Methinks me smells a rat...
How can this be?! Someone, please restore order and bring me back to a world where the Giants, A's and Yankees should be leading their divisions.
Where Ferrero should be winning his clay court matches at least.
Where the Lakers crash out of the playoffs.
Where someone like William Hung, who has ruined the good name of Cal for all of us and is way past his alloted 15 minutes, should have faded into obscurity by now.
I now resolve to be a good person. To be a nice person. I will stop bitching if that's what it takes to restore order to this world.
Changing direction totally, I have now decided on which icon to pick for Photos. Finally :)
Posted by scrabbyfoo at April 26, 2004 10:55 AMThe so-called dynasties are over. My observations:
1. The highest payroll means nothing without heart -- especially with George Steinbrenner involved. Jeter got booed at the plate today -- 21 at-bats without a hit!
2. The only people who still believe in the Cubs are the fans... why do people every insist on still thinking of our team as the lovable losers? We'll see you in October, again.
3. In spring training, baseball writers predicted that Dodgers manager Jim Tracy would lose his job soon because of the team's poor performance in March. However, these same writers also always believed that Tracy was one of the best managers in the game. Who's talking now?
The Cubs and the Dodgers are both comfortably atop their respective divisions... I can't handle the excitement!
Posted by: Des at April 26, 2004 11:33 AMWell Des, I've supported the Yankees since way before they started this over-spending spree, so I'm not one of those who jump on the bandwagon. (As for the Giants and the A's I started from 1996, when I was at Cal.) And you know, leaving payroll aside, I do think that the Yankee players have heart. And perhaps even more pressure thanks to the spotlight always being on them.
The Cubs: No comment, except that I'd cheer for them if they're not playing any of my teams. Cos I like the toothpick-chewing Dusty "It's Dustiny" Baker.
Jim Tracy: Well, even the best manager in the league will get the axe if your team doesn't perform. It's cheaper to get rid of one manager than 25 players :)
