Space, The Final Frontier No Longer

At least, when it comes to Civilisation 3, that is.

Last night, my Babylonians beat out the English, the Zulus, the Arabs, the Persians and the Ottomans in the space race. I sent a rocketload of Babylonians to colonise space in 2042 AD, thus giving me the victory.

If you have no idea what I'm going on about, you've obviously never played any of the Civilisation franchise of games, or Alpha Centauri. In the newest kid on the Civilisation block, i.e. Civilisation 3, there are more ways to win amongst which are the following:

a) kill everyone - Military Victory
b) be the first civilisation to go to space - Space Victory
c) be elected the UN leader - Diplomatic Victory
d) have the highest score - Histographic Victory

I can't remember the rest but my favourite way to win is the Space Victory. I just like researching technologies and building things. I detest fighting, and in Civilisation 3 the fighting seems to be harder than before. I'm a horrible diplomat because I tend not to give in to other civilisations' requests.

And yes, I'm a lousy Civ-er because I always play on chieftain level :) (For you non-initiates, that's the lowest of the low.) My leaders tend to be remembered as "XX the Worthless" or "XX the Pathetic" so I'll need to rethink my strategy a bit.

Anyhow, I played till 3 am this morning. All because I forgot to save (my last save game was 1999AD), constructed the United Nations in 2035AD and stupidly decided to hold UN elections when I was almost done with my spaceship. I was then soundly trounced by the Persian leader, who apparently had been going around butt-licking every other civilisation. So I had to reload my last save and replay the last 40-odd turns.

3 am! I just made myself a really really strong cup of coffee, and I'm looking forward to lunch time where I will skip lunch and just take an hour-long nap. Zzzzzzz.

Now that I've completed Civilisation 3, hopefully I'll be able to give it a rest and switch back to my Sims, or some other game. Before I get back to work, here's proof that I am a Trekkie at heart:

Space, the final frontier.
These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise.
Its continuing mission:
to explore strange new worlds;
to seek out new life and new civilisations;
to boldly go where no one has gone before.

Ta ta ta ta ta ta, ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta
If you have no idea what the ta-ta-tas are for, you must not have watched an episode of TNG before!

Hail my fellow Trekkie...live long and prosper! Hahahahahahah =)

I could never play games like Civ 3 or The Sims...I just have no patience, and I suck at them (proof: my cities never made any money when I attempted to play Sim City... =( )
