Ok maybe I'm not giving it enough credit. But having my flight delayed out of Chicago, getting my bag broken by some luggage handler and getting into the hotel at 2am combined to make me seriously grouchy when I got to Vegas. I'm not ashamed to say that after I got to my room, I was so miserable and lonely that when I saw my sister online I started bawling my eyes out.
Once I got over that hump I started enjoying myself a little. The Bellagio is a seriously swanky hotel, and there's lots of development going on both on and off the Strip. Vegas is probably the only place in the world where at 2am and 8am people are sitting at the slot machines and gambling away. They even have slot machines at the airport, right by the gates!
Right now I'm in SF, squatting at a friend's place. It took me 5 hours and 40 minutes, including one pit stop, to drive from LAX to Redwood City, which is slightly more than 300 miles in distance. I think I made pretty good time, given that I'm driving a Ford Focus, though by the end of it I was getting really sleepy. It's great to be back in the Bay Area. And, my friend's place is seriously nice - I'm so envious. The most bizarre thing on the whole drive was somewhere along Highway 5, where I saw like ten thousand cows. It was stinky.
After this long work trip I've pretty much made up my mind to move back to the US for a while. I really want to go back to school and I should do it now before I'm needed in Singapore or anything like that. So when I get back I'm going to start on my GREs etc. It'll be sad to leave my job but I guess sometimes tough decisions have to be made.
Ok, vacation time has started. Tomorrow I'm going to drive to Napa and relax, and then Sunday it's game time. Woohoo.
And June, I had another hotdog at LAS. Not bad, not bad at all.
