The Suaku Singaporean Reports: #4

I LOVE the Bay Area. Especially in summer time when it's sunny and warm with a mild breeze blowing to take the edge off the heat.

Yesterday we did a leisurely drive through wine country, passing through Napa, Yountville, Oakville, St Helena and Calistoga. I saw my favourite man again (photos up later) and finally managed to make my way north of the St. Helena Premium Outlets, which used to be the northernmost point of Highway 29 I'd ever gone to. Not anymore! Calistoga now has that honour.

So yeah, we did a leisurely drive, stopped at the Oakville Grocer for lunch and picnicked in the grounds of the Franciscan winery. We also visited the Niebaum-Coppola winery and man that is one swanky winery. Unfortunately, since I'm going to be driving back to LA, I decided not to lug any wine back with me. Which leaves me a convenient excuse to go back! (and preferably sometime soon.)

After that we cut across to Highway 101 via Highway 128, which is another very scenic drive. From there we headed back down to SF, passing through Marin county (where Skywalker Ranch is located), and stopping in Sausalito for a quick walk. Dinner was in a HK-style western cafe where I had a really good baked pork chop with mushroom sauce over rice. Cheap too, at 8 bucks and feeding two people.

Today is another beautiful day; the sun's out, the game's gonna be on in a few hours and after that I'm meeting up with some college pals. Man, I need to plot my return to the US and fast.

"We" is the nice person who offered to let me squat at his place. Definitely not the "we" I was hoping for, damnit.
