Just back
from my trip to San Diego.
San Diego is about 2 hours south of Los Angeles, depending on which highway you take. From where I'm staying I started off going west on 210 and then turning south onto Highway 15. After a while I got bored of the 15 (it's inland and the scenery gets dreary) so I got onto Highway 74 to get to the 5 which goes by the coast. Highway 74 is a nice winding drive that goes over some mountain ridges and has really nice views at the top.
When I got to San Diego I took a quick look at Old Town and then headed to La Jolla to hang out with a college friend. She took me to see UCSD (Berkeley's nicer! Haha!) and then we drove around the rich area gawking at houses. They are swanky with a capital "S". And they're all ocean-facing so the view is fantastic. From there we headed to the beach to check out surfer dudes and then over to La Jolla Cove and the downtown area to just walk and talk. Dinner was at a Greek diner right by her place; the food was delicious and so affordable. I had a Gyros Jr. Pita which cost US$3.99 and it was one of the best meals I've had so far. (Maybe I should have ordered 2!)
After that I headed back to LA on the 5 and made it back in an hour and a half, passing by Angel Stadium on the way. I was going to catch a ton of baseball on this trip but baseball's not that much fun on my own so I'm leaving it for my next trip. Which means the next time I come to California I have to watch the Athletics, the Angels, the Dodgers AND the Padres, on top of watching the Giants. Woohoo.
Today SD; tomorrow outlet shopping. YAY!
