A Minor Confession

When I was 12 or so, I had to read "The Hobbit" for school. It was a great read and consequently I dragged my mom out to Times The Bookshop in Centrepoint to buy the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy.

I never got past the 1st 2 chapters of Book 1. Thanks to all that description with no action, and the long sentences, crammed with adjectives, that never seemed to end, I nodded off everytime I opened the book. Plus, the fact that most of the time it was on hot afternoons that I tried to read, lying on my bed.

Years later, the movies came out one by one by one. It wasn't until I watched all three that I decided to give the books one more try. So, I picked them out from my bookshelf where they'd been languishing for more than a decade, and started reading.

It is SO MUCH EASIER to finish something when you already know the story.

Next up: "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy"
