Weekend Update

Busy busy but very enjoyable weekend.

0930, Saturday: The day starts off bright and early with a spot of breakfast, and then my sister's CNY party.

1430, Saturday: After helping out with the food and the decor I head off to yet another CNY bash all the way up north in Woodlands. My friend's mom is a great cook! She makes the best kueh lapis and paper-wrapped chicken. Yum.

1645, Saturday: Back to my sis's for more feasting and gambling.

2100, Saturday: I head home to get ready for a hen night.

2230, Saturday: With the bride-to-be and Nat driving, we turn into a taxi service to pick up the rest of the girls.

2300, Saturday: The hen night at Double O begins! Things start out slow but as the pitchers of Screwdrivers get rolling so do we. The highlight of the night happens when 3 young guys, one of whom has nice abs (thus fulfilling the bride-to-be's wish), join our table and hang out for a while. We leave only when the lights come up around 4 am and head off for a spot of supper. (I'm slightly ashamed to say that one of the young guys paid for supper.)

0600, Sunday: I crawl into bed for some much-needed Zs.

0815, Sunday: Time to wake up for the family paintball tournament! In case you're wondering there are 2 paintball sites in SG - Orchid Country Club and the Discovery Centre. Paintball is fairly strenuous and the balls do hurt, especially if you're in close contact. We play for almost 3 hours, by which time everyone is groaning and panting from all the running around. To put things in perspective, here are snippets from some emails sent out (from different individuals) after the tournie:

1) "Walking with a limp now... strained my thigh muscle..."
2) "I had cramps to both my thighs walking from the carpark to the office. Best part, it happened in the lift with 2 strangers, tried so hard to not show the pain on my face and had to pretend I was simply stretching my upper body when I was holding on to the rails for support!"
3) "... the bruise has gotten bigger and rounder... can't turn my head either..."
4) "[she] is now on crutches."
5) "The muscles in the front of my thighs are so tight I can't even make it down the stairs of my house!"
6) "6 bruises... butt and thighs burning... BTW [our grandma] thinks we're mad."

And the best of the lot, from my dad:
7) "I must apologise to my team-mates for losing our games. The only evidence of my physical exertion is a slight stiffness in my left thigh. Since I cannot be fitter than the rest the obvious conclusion is I did not try hard enough.
Sorry folks. Will try harder next time."

Yeah yeah we're that unfit.

1400, Sunday: After paintball and lunch, I head home and use the excuse of charging my phone to get some shuteye.

1500, Sunday: With 45 minutes more sleep under my belt, I head down to Chinatown to pick up my bridesmaid dress and attend a softball meeting.

1915, Sunday: Dinner, with my uncle and grandma.

2100, Sunday: Quick drive out to Nat's to pick up a phone cable.

2145, Sunday: Quick drive over to my cousin's, to drop off some stuff and then over to PJ's.

0030, Sunday: Finally, sleep. After reading 1.5 annual reports, I throw in the towel and crawl into bed.

In the end, I had to take a half day on Monday just so that I could go home early and take a nap. *yawn*

Anyhow I'm off to India for a work trip tonight. Back on Saturday morning. Whoop-de-doo.

Addendum: Am blogging from the Silver Kris lounge in Changi and I just had the best chicken breast I've ever had. Black pepper chicken breast with mashed potatoes. Yum yum.

pblossom: Serene, remember her?

Des: I omitted any mention of our tennis game cos it didn't fit in with the whole "taking off to nap" theme. Hehe.

Nat: Ok, if you say so...

squeak: But a whole lot of fun though!
