So, the big dinner
came and went on Saturday night, and aside from one technical breakdown everything else went splendidly.
Saturday started bright and early with breakfast with the folks, and then I went to get my hair cut and a manicure while at it. It's a great idea for hair salons to provide nail services as well because sometimes you get people who are in the salon for a special occasion and what better way to save time than by getting your nails done as well. And, it makes you feel like some kind of bigshot to have 4 people clustered around you. Heh. I now sport a super short spiky do which I love, and will keep for quite a while.
After that, I went home to get ready for the dinner. Caught some sun, did a facial, pondered on which of my many many dresses to wear and then I went off to pick up the happy couple, along with another friend.
I'll skip over the dinner details, except to say that the speech went down well, and I managed to make the bride tear, which was my objective all along. So to those that gave their feedback, many thanks :)
After dinner a group of us headed over to New Asia Bar and here's where things got interesting. I met 2 new guys and exchanged phone numbers for about the first time in my life. (Yah, I know that's very loser-ish of me.) I mean, with strangers in a bar. Well, they weren't really strangers but more like friends of a friend. Anyhow I hung out with one of them till very early on Sunday morning, which was fun too.
I guess my aversion to meeting new people and socialising disappears when I meet the right kind of people, or people who are more on my wavelength. Either that or beer is a great leveller.
Anyhow, after a tiring weekend where I barely had any sleep, I had to take the morning off today. I called in and gave some excuse about having to send someone to the doctor, rescheduled one meeting and went back to bed. Woke up at 1230, which gave me a total of 14 hours' sleep over 3 days. Woohoo.
Another interesting thing: I chanced upon the blog of my 1st boyfriend, and after reading it I'm glad we broke up. We just weren't suited for each other and reading the blog now makes me wonder how we could have ever got together in the first place. Not that he's a bad person but he's become very religious. VERY. So not me...

Posted by: May at March 14, 2006 12:02 AMI think it was the alcohol. Probably helped to erase the "fuck off!" look. Besides, you look decidedly cheerier when you drink. Hahahaha.
You've never exchanged numbers? Serious? I mean, the bride I can imagine...but you? I'm surprised.
Posted by: Nat at March 14, 2006 11:10 AMNat: I am a good girl!!! And I do NOT have a fuck-off look. Geez. I was cheery even before I started drinking. I'm almost always cheery.
Posted by: May at March 14, 2006 03:17 PM*snort* If you're a good girl, I'm a freaking angel. Hahahah!
But probably not Mexico cheery. =P
The bride can tell us if she concurs on your "fuck off!" look. Oh damnit, she's on her honeymoon...
