Back in the Bay

So, here I am back in San Francisco. Man, this place feels like my 2nd home even though it's been a while since I graduated.

Got into SF about half an hour ahead of schedule, on one of the crappier flights I've ever been on. There was a lot of turbulence and given that I had just watched the first 2 episodes of Lost the night before, you can safely assume I didn't have a great time. The one saving grace was that the movie selection this month is awesome, which is great since I'm going to be doing a lot of travelling in May.

At the immigration counter, the officer behind the desk was this old Chinese dude who asked me a couple of questions about myself. What was I doing here, how long was I staying, where did I work in Singapore... And when he found out the name of my company he asked me to name a couple of our funds. Turns out, the guy is an investor in two of the funds that I work on. Talk about a small world. Once I told him that, he became MUCH friendlier and with good cause since we've been giving him a great return over the last few years.

And, I decided to go all out and spoil myself so at the car rental counter I tried my luck and asked if they had a Jeep Wrangler. (There weren't any available on the web site when I made my reservation.) Turns out, they had one left in the system. Yeah so it's a white Jeep Wrangler but hey man, it's the car that's important, not the colour. So, I'm going to be cruising the streets of the Bay Area in a Wrangler for the next few days. Woohoo!

Anyhow, the plan for the next few days is just to drive around and revisit some of the old haunts. Shopping, eating, having a cuppa at Strada and breakfasting at Sufficient Grounds in Berkeley... mmm, this is the life. We should all be on holiday perpetually.

Oh, and I'll put up photos of the burger party I had over the long weekend when I get back. It was a pretty good turnout and most people liked the burgers and the ice-cold Sangria. Yay.
