By now
the astute amongst you might have noticed something different in the last few posts. That's right: I am officially a schizophrenic.
Hahaha.
In other news, London (if you hadn't already gathered) was a blast. The weather was nice and cool, the city is awesome and being able to hang out with friends/colleagues was great. The only gripe I have about London is that things are so bloody expensive there. At the airport I was considering buying some snacks for the flight to Barcelona but when I realised I had to pay the equivalent of S$1.80 for a small pack of chips and $6 for 500ml of water, I changed my mind. Little did I know that the freaking flight I was booked on was apparently run by a budget airline so not only did they not serve food, they didn't serve water either. And now that Heathrow doesn't allow bringing in liquids over 500ml, that meant I was w/o water for the whole flight. The shops in Heathrow are doing a roaring trade selling bottled water. I smell a conspiracy theory somewhere...
I always feel like I'm in a game of Monopoly everywhere I go in London. And the city's full of quaint places with names like St Andrew by the Wardrobe. It's like some CS Lewis novel. I love how historical London is, and it's really admirable how good a job of conservation they've done. (Having said that, my office building sticks out like an eyesore, all green glass and angles. Yucks.) And it's so cool how just by turning the corner, you sometimes discover an alleyway that looks like it's right out of the 1800s.
Maybe I should really consider moving up here for a while. It'd be fun... Expensive, but fun :)
Posted by scrabbyfoo at November 15, 2006 11:33 PMIt won't be expensive if you're earning UK salary heh heh ;-)
Btw, did you visit Covent Garden? Nottinghill? Camden Market? Tower Hill? Canary Wharf? Famous Wong Kei at Chinatown? :-)
London is a city that grows on you... And not to mention now you have "connections" with the Mosimanns too! He he.
Posted by: bluepooch at November 19, 2006 01:29 AMI did all the touristy stuff when I visited a few years back, so this time around I just spent it hanging out w/ a friend, trying to experience a weekend as a Londoner would.
