Snippets from Beijing

Here's a few snippets I've gleaned over the last few days.

1) Watsons in Beijing (and maybe the rest of China) does not sell medication. They sell a shitload of other stuff, but no medication.

2) Soft drinks are literally 软饮料. And using that logic, Microsoft's name in Mandarin is 微软. Teehee. That cracks me up.

3) Chinese pear with honey walnuts, feta cheese and mustard is a delicious combination. We had dinner at Green Tea House, a fusion restaurant, 2 nights ago and it was the best dinner yet. A bit pricey (although we did have 2 bottles of wine) but well worth the moolah.

4) Apparently one of the best clubs to go to in Beijing is 唐会, which we stumbled into by accident because it happened to be next to Green Tea House.

5) Chinese people are the funniest when it comes to clubbing, probably because they look so serious while they're dancing. It's almost like, they're trying too hard.

6) There's a park in Beijing, 景山公园 where you can get a great view of the Forbidden City. Bear in mind, however, that if your group is travelling in 2 separate cabs, there are 3 entrances to the park. And it's no fun walking around in 0 degree weather trying to locate the other members of your group. Brrr.
