It's
a novel sensation to look into your rearview mirror to see nothing but a patch of inky darkness. No streetlights, no headlights of cars behind you, just pale moonlight providing some measure of illumination. And then you look in front and ahead of you, just past the twin circles that are your headlights, there's nothing you can see. At times like these you just keep an eye on the gas and pray you don't run out before the next rest stop. (Which, at certain stretches of the highway, can be few and far between.)
I'm in KL now, having driven up (for the first time!) the night before. The drive was fine - no encounters with cops whatsoever despite multiple warnings from lots of people about cops hiding behind bushes waiting to spring speed traps on you. And, time passes pretty fast when it's past midnight, there's company and you're doing 130 kmh while belting out songs from the radio.
I'm considering driving up more often, although there's the fact that I can't yet bear to subject Sam to the perils of M'sian highways. Pity though, cos Sam's built for road trips. Just imagine, driving all the way up Peninsula Malaysia, up to Thailand and maybe beyond. What a trip that would be!
Anyhow, the next few days will be a mixture of work and play, with the balance hopefully skewed towards the latter. You guys have a great week :) I know I will.

Posted by: May at February 6, 2007 12:25 PMHave fun! ;)
I would love to drive through Malaysia to Thailand.. I think when I finally dare to do that, I'll get over the claustrophobia of S'pore.
