Back in China again... This is the third time this year that I'm in China, I think...

I may have mentioned this before, but there's a toll gate on the way into Beijing from the airport and it looks like an ancient gate, all traditional-looking. And everytime I drive through it I always feel like I'm going back in time. Back to a time where men and women had long hair, wore clothing with long sleeves that doubled up as pockets and walked around most of China with these weird looking cloth shoes that probably didn't have good ventilation and, as a result, gave them smelly feet.

Then one day my illusions were cruelly shattered when my garrulous cab driver told me the gate was about 10 years old.

Sigh.
