I am
in KK for the next few days. I'm here with my family to attend a wedding and on top of that we've packed in a golf trip and a dive trip as well. Which makes packing a bitch but hey, it's an action-packed vacation!
So far, we're done with the wedding and the golf, which only leaves Sipadan to go. Since it's supposed to be one of the best dive sites in the world, I'm really looking forward to it. Hopefully I'll get to see some hammerhead sharks and maybe even a whale shark or two!
Golf here was pretty fun as well. Since we're members of a golf club in Singapore we get to use our reciprocal membership so golf was free and all we had to pay was the buggy fee. 15 ringgit was a pretty cheap way to while away a couple of hours! And the food at the golf club, oh man, the food. It was SO GOOD. The watan kway teow was full of "wok hei", which made it super yummy. FYI, "wok hei" is the 'taste' you get when your wok is hot enough (2500 BTUs or something like that) so cooking on a home stove will never work.
We played at Sabah Golf and Country Club (SGCC) and at Karambunai Golf Club (KGC). KGC is right by the sea so you get both a sea view and a mountain view, which makes it a really picturesque course. But the rough is really ROUGH, if you'll excuse the pun. It's thick and long and once your ball is in, it's tough to see where your ball is unless you're almost on top of it. Seeing it is one problem, getting it out is another. Most of the time I just had to hack it out with an iron and be happy with just getting it out of the rough, much less advancing towards the hole. SGCC was a much easier course but less pretty.
Ok, gotta go pack for Sipadan. Back in SG in a few days :)
